Egg breakfast can help reduce weight?

A test conducted on 20 obese people who have found that those who ate eggs forbreakfast instead of cereal, feel less hungry at lunch, and end up eating less full mealsfor lunch.

Scientists at the Pennington Research Centre in Louisiana, United States, found thateggs suppress levels of ghrelin, a hormone that stimulates appetite, in their blood three hours after breakfast.

Eggs also increases levels of the hormone PYY3-36 which gives the signal "full."

Dr Nikhil Shurandhar who led the study, said: "This research shows that diets with highprotein quality may increase satiety and make dieting more successful."

"The study also raises the question: what are some foods with high protein content is anatural appetite suppressant?" he added, as reported by the Telegraph.

Long-term research is needed to see whether the protein-rich breakfast can help peoplelose weight.

Tracy Parker, an expert on diet and heart health in the British Heart Foundation (BHF)said: "This discovery could help people who want to lose weight to stop snacking. This suggests that the quality of protein in your diet, and not a number, can affect what youfeel. "

"However, because the study was funded by the American Egg Board, then it does notpay attention to other high protein foods. Comparative studies on meat, fish, and chicken, should also be done."

"Breakfast is eggs will hold you to a lot of snacking, but remember to use healthycooking methods. Try to boil an egg. Do not fry or add the butter in scrambled eggs," he concluded.
